About
Geneva Frans Atelier is a contemporary jewellery and multidisciplinary design studio founded by South African jewellery designer Geneva Frans.
Based in Cape Town, the studio creates sculptural jewellery that explores the relationship between identity, culture, womanhood, spirituality and storytelling. Each piece is designed as an object of meaning — one that invites reflection, conversation and connection.
Geneva holds an Honours Degree in Creative Jewellery and Metal Design from Stellenbosch University and has further developed her practice through studies in wood carving, enamelling, glasswork and digital design. Drawing from both traditional craftsmanship and contemporary art practices, she combines hand fabrication, wax sculpting and material exploration to create jewellery that is distinctive, actile and deeply personal.
As a woman of colour growing up in South Africa, Geneva became increasingly aware of how few luxury accessories reflected the complexity of local stories and lived experiences. This observation became the foundation of her design practice.
Her work is inspired by the African landscape, folklore, memory, ancestry, spirituality, symbolism and the emotional experiences that connect us across generations. Rather than following trends, Geneva approaches jewellery as a form of storytelling, creating pieces that hold narrative, meaning and presence.
Each piece is designed and developed with intention, balancing sculptural form with wearability. Sustainability, ethical sourcing and thoughtful craftsmanship remain central to the studio's philosophy.
The long-term vision for Geneva Frans Atelier extends beyond jewellery. The studio aims to become a globally recognised design house while creating opportunities for emerging jewellers and artists through mentorship, skills development and community-based creative spaces.
At its heart, Geneva Frans Atelier exists to tell stories, stories of who we are, where we come from and what we choose to carry forward.
